COLOMBIAN MODELS

Colombian Models is a pictorial series that pays tribute to working women who are often rendered invisible by urban routine yet remain essential to the social fabric of Colombia. Lottery vendors, potato peelers, florists, street sellers, and recyclers become protagonists here: real women who sustain daily life in the streets and marketplaces of the country, from Bogotá to the Caribbean coast.

Through the language of Hyperpop—my personal fusion of hyperrealism and pop art—this body of work transforms the everyday into an act of aesthetic resistance. In each portrait, the documentary and the symbolic coexist, the intimate and the social converge: faces and gestures painted with oil, acrylic, aerosols, and collage transcend mere depiction to become symbols of dignity, memory, and resilience.

In the Colombian context, where informal labor sustains much of the economy and urban life, these works offer a critical reflection on who truly builds the everyday. Each woman portrayed is presented not as a marginal figure, but as a cultural icon whose presence illuminates the city and redefines the very notion of beauty.

Colombian Models is not only a series of portraits—it is a visual and social manifesto that seeks to recognize, dignify, and preserve stories that often go unnoticed. Its purpose is to move, to create empathy, and to awaken awareness, inviting collectors, curators, and art lovers to recognize in these women the silent strength that sustains an entire country.
