With a smile that lights up and a face that tells decades of struggle and dignity, Blanca, Lottery Vendor is an artwork that transcends the image to become a symbol. This hyperrealistic portrait represents an 85 year old Colombian woman who has worked tirelessly for more than 50 years selling lottery tickets in Bogotá.
Her gaze shines with the same intensity as the colors that surround her: a fuchsia cap embroidered with the word Colombia, tropical textiles lining the visor, and a lottery ticket that, as the background, evokes the dreams she offers day after day.
Every brushstroke in oil on canvas captures the story of a life lived with courage and tenderness. The hyperrealist technique merges with a contemporary visual language influenced by pop art, a hallmark that defines my work as a Colombian visual artist.
The result is a vibrant, honest, and profoundly human piece that celebrates female identity and resilience in the urban context.
This work invites collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts to look beyond aesthetics: to connect with the story of those who, from anonymity, sustain the social fabric of our country. Because art, when it has soul, transforms perspectives and awakens awareness.
